Telkom Bursaries

Telkom sets aside a lot of money annually for the development of South Africa. Some of these funds are allocated to bursaries. The Telkom bursaries in SA are offered to financially constrained students with impressive academic performance. The bursaries cover various fields of study, with a concentration in business and engineering courses.

The application process takes place annually; you can collect the application forms from any Telkom Centre for Learning. You are supposed to attach certified copies of your ID and the latest academic results. In order for the company to carry out interviews; and complete their selection process by the end of the year, they close the application process on 31st July. Always post your completed application forms to the addresses indicated on them.

The sponsor will only support a needy student who shows potential in their academics. In order for you to be eligible for the Telkom bursaries in SA you should have admission to a learning institution. Universities admit students that score an aggregate of C or above.

If you are joining a university of Technology you should have an aggregate of D or more in Science and Mathematics. An ongoing student should have 60% in the major subjects with no fail. The requirements also insist on the applicant being a South African. You can increase your chances by maintaining an average of 65%.

Also make sure that you submit your bursary application in good time. The applications process is open between 1st March and 31st May each year.

When you get the application form, check if you meet the requirements. Always note the opening date, closing dates, the documents and information needed. Put together the information needed for the application. Be careful when filling in the application forms, write your answers on a separate sheet then transfer them to the form.

Make sure you provide all the necessary documentation, do not omit or add anything else. You can write a motivational letter if there is no space assigned for it. Confirm that the physical address you use is accurate. Also make sure that you have provided the right contact details. Retain a copy of the application form in case you are asked for it during the interview.

Patiently wait for Telkom to get back to you instead of following up. If Telkom does not get back to you by 30th September consider your application unsuccessful. In case you pass the selection process you will be granted a conditional acceptance.

You will be presented with a Bursary Confirmation Letter to register with your school. Read the terms and conditions of the bursary contract before signing it because it is legally binding.

If your application is successful, you get academic fees, residential fees and cash allowance. The Telkom bursaries in SA are valid for the duration of your course as long as your performance is satisfactory. The bursaries are available to students in different learning institutions.

The service contract requires you to remain in service for the same period as the tenure of Telkom’s bursary.
